PRP FOR HAIR LOSS
What is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Platelets, which are found in your blood, are loaded with growth factors that accelerate wound healing. In high concentrations, growth factors are also believed to help battle hair loss. They stimulate the hair follicle to turn on if it’s been in a sleeping state, and if it’s already awake, the growth factors give it a boost and help the hair grow longer and thicker.
What makes our PRP Selphyl System Unique?
Unlike other PRP treatments, our treatment with the Selphyl system takes purifying the platelets one step farther. After the PRP is prepared, it is then further purified to PRFM (platelet-rich fibrin matrix). This fibrin matrix serves as a 3-D scaffold to maintain the platelets at the site of injection. The scaffold also serves to protect the platelets so their release of growth factors can be sustained over a longer period of time and give overall better results.

What will happen during the procedure?
Typically 1-2 small vials of blood will be drawn from the patient and spun in a special centrifuge to separate the components: red blood cells, plasma, and platelet-rich plasma. The latter is then extracted and transferred to a second tube (PRFM–platelet rich fibrin matrix). Finally, it’s injected into the patient’s scalp wherever they are experiencing thinning.
What is the recovery process?
There is no downtime with this procedure, meaning you can resume your normal activities immediately after
How Long does the Procedure Take?
The whole procedure takes about 15 minutes to perform
How Many Treatments are Required?
For best results, consistency is key. Treatments are typically performed once a month for the first three to four months, and then every six months to 1 year thereafter, depending on the individual patient’s response and results. Following this protocol, anticipated results can first be seen within two to three months.
The first result that patients usually note is decreased hair shedding, followed by early regrowth and increased length of hair. The general consensus is that receiving treatments every six months on a long-term basis are optimal for continuing to stimulate the growth factors and stem cells that are associated with regrowth and stopping hair fallout.
